Jesus
distributed a variety of gifts to His disciples; gifts of healing, of prophecy,
of speaking in tongues and interpretation, of the word of knowledge, of the
word of wisdom, of performing miracles, of discerning spirits, and so on. The
Holy Spirit gave such gifts for the benefit of each one. They are used by his
disciples to build and build the earthly body of Christ. “… Until we all reach
the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, a perfect man, tailored to
the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4: 12-13.
Paul
urged to seek, then, the best gifts. But I show you a much better way. Then he
describes the qualities of love, and says that without them, we are nothing.
“Love is suffered is benign; love is not envious; love is not boastful, it does
not puff up; he does nothing wrong, he does not seek his own; does not get
irritated, does not hold a grudge; one does not enjoy injustice, more one
enjoys the truth. He suffers everything, he believes everything, he expects
everything, he supports everything. Love never ceases to be. ”1 Corinthians 13:
4-8. Let us measure ourselves by these divine qualities, and let the Holy
Spirit work with us, so that we can truly reach them.
“…
That he may give you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened
with power in the inner man by his Spirit; so that Christ may dwell by faith in
your hearts, so that ingrained and grounded in love, you will be fully able to
understand with all the saints whatever the width, length, depth and height,
and to know the love of Christ , which exceeds all knowledge, so that you may
be filled with all the fullness of God. ”Ephesians 3: 16-19.
An
amazing vocation, a magnificent glory, through the work of the Holy Spirit. Let
us humble ourselves deeply under the powerful hand of God, through the guidance
of his Spirit, so that grace may come upon us, and we will reach that fullness.
So let us do what Paul exhorted Timothy, take care of these things; remain in
them, so that your use is manifest to all. (1 Timothy 4:15).
