Was Nostradamus a true prophet? Can you trust the Mayan
predictions of December 2012? Who gave these prophecies to mortals?
There are true prophets and there are also false prophets.
Jesus and the apostles warned that there would be false prophets through the
centuries who would not be authorized by God to speak to humanity. The prophecy
reveals that religious deception will be especially prevalent at the end of
this century. One way to determine if someone is a true or false prophet is to
carefully examine this person's words and compare them with the truth of the
Bible.
There is only one supreme Authority in the universe that speaks
to humanity and whose word is truly trustworthy. As the author of the book of
Hebrews explains: “God, having spoken many times and in many ways at another
time to the parents for the prophets, in these last days he has spoken to us by
the Son, to whom he was heir of everything, and by who also made the universe
”(Hebrews 1: 1-2). A true prophet of God is a person specifically designated to
convey God's messages to nations and individuals.
Through these messengers, God set out to give us
understanding about the very purpose of life. He also gave us a lot of
information about future events. Satan also has his messengers, who are false
prophets. Satan is called the deceiver par excellence, a liar and the father of
lies. You can read more if you want to continue learning what God has to say
about true and false prophets.
