Mark 1: 14-15
The first time the Lord Jesus Christ opens his mouth ... was to
preach the message of repentance.
John the Baptist preached this message and also said that He would
come Another greater than him ... and "people could ask, what could this
speak to us". When John was imprisoned, this moved Jesus to preach
and continue the message of John the Baptist ... but he was no longer an
ordinary man, but was God himself made flesh to call man to repentance.
The word REPENTANCE comes from the original Greek METANOEO which
means change of intention and change of mind ... Jesus when he told him that
someone repents, the original idea is that you change your intentions as a
consequence change the way of your life. It
is a 180º turn
The message of life that Jesus preached is strongly
linked to repentance, that when there is no true repentance there is no life in
that person, everything is spiritual death, eternal damnation.
John Wesley never had peace, until he had a true repentance, who
was this man, John Wesley grew up in a religious family, prepared to
evangelize the Amerindians when America was being populated, one might think,
that great man of God was East. To work more glorious intends to do,
going to preach to another nation to the pagans, far from home, but John
Wesley, to the get there and preach religion, according to also doing this to
ensure his soul in heaven, he he realized, of the lack of life that was in
himself and of the ineffectiveness of his words, back in his country, he
thought about himself realizing that he did not even understand the gospel and had no peace
in my soul, and said : "I went to America to preach to the Indians to
become the Indians, but who converted me to me" I DIDN'T HAVE A TRUE
FAITH, BECAUSE I DIDN'T ALSO HAVE A TRUE REPENTANCE in a few words his religion
could not give Life to his soul
WITHOUT A REAL REPENTANCE THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS OR LIFE
Luke 3: 3
And he went throughout the region adjacent to the Jordan, preaching
the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins ...
They baptized people that it was a symbol or an external rite of
something that had already happened in the heart, when there was true
repentance then there was a forgiveness of sins ... now people have only
left the rite (baptize) but have not had a true repentance (which is the
essence of baptism).
Without repentance, forgiveness of sins will not come and there
will be no life
Acts 11:18
Then, having heard these things, they kept silent, and glorified
God, saying: So God also has given repentance to life!
The apostle Peter arrives with the early church and speaks to them
as he had preached the gospel to the Gentiles (not Jewish) and not to the Jews
(something that was controversial) and how it was that they were
saved, and the church understood the following: how good, Gentiles
have repented for life ”, if you thought that repentance was not necessary for
salvation, you are seeing in the Holy Word that for the soul of man
to have life, there must be a repentance and they will have life . A
person will never have real life, no peace, no grace if he does not have a TRUE
REPENTANCE.
